Doritos and Moon Pies and Life
Additional Particulars by Ed Simpson is a comedy about the lives of four employees at the Save-A-Bundle Discount Store. The Los Angeles Times called the play, "…Witty and insightful . . .not just a very funny show, but unexpectedly poignant and decidedly human as well . . . " You can meet Glenda, Warren, Raymond and Kenny at Canyon Moon Theatre, February 16 through February 26. This season is sponsored by Allie Ollie.
The play unfolds in two separate, but related, stories. Act I focuses on the burgeoning romance between a reserved, but enthusiastic sales clerk and her awkward middle-management boss. During Act II, the audience is introduced to a different look at life at Save-A-Bundle when they meet two maintenance workers with very different attitudes toward the lives they've chosen.
Artistic Director Mary Guaraldi worked with Simpson in Pennsylvania at the Carnegie Mellon Showcase of New Plays. Guaraldi has been following his work since then. "This play is filled with the laughter, secrets and awkwardness of life that we all can recognize. It was awarded the LA Drama Critics Circle Award, Backstage West's Garland Award and was a Critic's Choice in the LA Times. I’m glad to bring it to our audiences."
The first act features two new-comers to the CMT stage, Steve Fettkether and Giselle Suarez. Steve has done several murder mysteries for Canyon Moon and founded the Old Town Players in Cottonwood. Giselle recently moved to Cottonwood from the Netherlands where she did professional theatre for many years.
Act two brings back two CMT favorites, Mike Levin and Nick Rabe. Mike has done several shows here including Sylvia, Charlie Cox Runs with Scissors and The Importance of Being Earnest. Nick was featured as Father Tom in CMT's recent hit Making God Laugh and was featured in Theatrikos’s production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare.
