Mary Magdalene: Bride and Beloved
A conversation with special guest and renowned author Margaret Starbird
Ms. Starbird's theological beliefs were profoundly shaken when she first encountered the suggestion that Jesus Christ was married and that his bloodline survived in Western Europe. Shocked by such heresy, she set out to refute it but instead discovered new and compelling evidence for the existence of the lost bride of Jesus — the Mary who anointed him with precious unguent of nard from her alabaster jar.
A preponderance of evidence from the Judeo-
Christian Scriptures, including the Gospels

themselves, supports rather than denies the claim that Jesus was married. Starbird's books set forth the evidence, reclaiming the "Sacred Partnership" that was at the heart of the Christian story. Her research was a major source for the The Da Vinci Code, and two of her books are specifically cited in that book.
Ms. Starbird has written four books: The Woman With the Alabaster Jar, The Feminine Face of Christianity, Magdalene's Lost Legacy, and The Goddess in the Gospels.
Ms. Starbird holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Maryland where she concentrated in comparative literature, medieval studies, and German language — interests she pursued on a Fulbright Student Grant at the Christian Albrechts Universitat in Kiel, Germany. She taught German at the University of Maryland for several years and for one year at North Carolina State University. She later attended Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Returning for its second season, this popular and thought-provoking series continues with guest speakers discussing topics that are compelling and timely to the community.
Each evening begins with a conversation between the guest speaker and the host, followed by a question-and-answer period with the audience.
Evenings close with coffee and dessert in the lobby, giving audience members the opportunity to meet with the speakers one on one and to discuss the ideas presented during the evening with each other.
