SEASON X — Splinter Series
Fiction by Steven Dietz
'The lies begin when we lift the pen.'
This provocative play focuses on Linda and Michael Waterman, smart and successful married writers who thrive on the give-and-take of their unusually honest relationship. Their happy life is interrupted when Linda learns she has a brain tumor and only has three weeks to live. She asks Michael to read her diaries after she dies and to let her read his now. The surprises come thick and fast when she discovers a mysterious woman in Michael's memoirs. The boundaries between past and present, fact and fiction, and trust and betrayal begin to break down. No life, it turns out, is an open book. The tension between trust and suspicion is at the heart of this gripping drama.

Fiction marks the return of the talented Zoë Yeoman (Linda) to Canyon Moon Theatre. At Canyon Moon she was last seen as Haley Walker in Theresa Rebecks’ Bad Dates and as Ruth in Collected Stories. With a background in stage, television, and film, Ms. Yeoman is a favorite of Canyon Moon audiences.
Mike Levin (Michael) has previously collaborated with Ms. Guaraldi in Prelude to a Kiss, Sylvia, Charlie Cox Runs With Scissors, and, most recently, in the title role in The Importance of Being Ernest. He has just completed writing his third play, I'm Not Michael.
The cast also features the Sedona debut of Laura Cooper as Abby. A professional actress from Los Angeles, Cooper’s past roles include Babe in Crimes of the Heart and Jill in Butterflies Are Free.
